!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? Well I took nobody's advice and bought both of them.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I didn't really plan on buying both, but when good deals come along, I don't just sit at my computer comment on Jalopnik about how I 'almost pulled the trigger' on a car. I do it. So now I've got two ridiculous sports cars.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
1. 1999 Chevy Corvette Fixed Roof Coupe. 6-Speed Manual.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The precursor to the Z06, this model is some pound lighter than the standard car. It's also stiffer and comes standard with the Z51 package, including active handling, heads-up display and probably other things.
This particular car has all stock, except for a Borla exhaust. It also came with a second set of wheels and tires, on sticky Hankook V12 Ventus Pros or Evos or something.
It's a bit sad how little I have to report on it. I've had it about three weeks and have put about 150 miles on it. However, I can tell you immediately it's just a much, much better car than the S2000 was. It's much faster than the Honda was and most importantly, this car can relax. Where the Honda would do 4000 RPM at 60, this car does 1500 RPM, getting 32 highway MPG in the process. I've averaged about 25 in the short while I've driven it.
So now here's car number #2
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
2. 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. A mouthful.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Now, I've already sort of announced this car, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but you get to hear about it again.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This example is completely pristine. It's 100% stock with 86k miles. I even bought it from the original owner. It's a complete peach minus the locked up motor.
As of now, the car is undergoing it's engine rebuild. In the linked post above, I had noted all the work we've done so far pulling the motor out and tearing it apart. I've got a new block, internals, turbo, rebuild kit, and new clutch going in.
However, as of today, I'm waiting on a $10 tap to arrive so we can actually begin assembling it. For now, we wait.
I really have nothing to report on the STI. I know it looks good and I know that it's nice to sit it, but that's about it.
Of course, more posts are to come as I drive one a bit more and get the other one to drive. Also, probably will post when I actually get some decent photos

I like the C5 Vette better. For some reason, I see myself having an S2000 and a C5 Z06 side-by-side in my own garage. It feels like the perfect marriage...

Two at once. Intense.

Well played.

Honestly, I would've preferred a ragga top.
As you can see, that was no deal breaker though

Awesome! although that also means that it will take a while for Burn Book part 2 to come out.

Boxer engines really are flat 4's, I've never actaully seen one out of a car.

First you beat JayhawkJake in the Corvette then you run STO6 and win it in the STi for fun.

I want to be like you when I grow up!
![]() 02/06/2015 at 11:27 |

He's not going to beat me in the STI

The S2000 was a great car, it's just not my type of car. I like having torque more than HP.
An S2k with an LS and a T56 is my type of car
![]() 02/06/2015 at 11:42 |
|
My mistake.
He's going to crush you in the STi.
![]() 02/06/2015 at 12:02 |

I doubt it
![]() 02/06/2015 at 12:08 |

hahaha damn. I don't like motor swaps at all.

I am very jealous. Those are both great finds.

I was joking because I saw a post earlier in the week where someone was legitimately saying that was called a Boxster engine

I'm jealous of that Subie. The one you have there may be my dream car. Two wings for the win.

I'll even sell you mine. Haha.

The best I can do is seventy-three cents and a blue M&M.

You'll need about 1,999,927 more pennies.
And I don't like the blue ones.

It's been almost two months... curious to hear how you like those Hankook V12 tires. Or did you replace them already?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 17:14 |

I mean they're grippy as hell. I've only put about 400 miles on the car though. I'd definitely recommend them. Good mix of street/autocross
